The missed shot on goal yesterday by Qatar’s teenage striker Fahad Khalfan is already being called the worst miss of all time, and it’s certainly a contender. (Watch here). But it’s not a certainty for the title, as this effort (below) by former Luton forward Rocky Baptiste shows.
Rocky was playing for Harrow at the time. He was past the keeper. The goal was open. He was at the right-hand side of the net as he looked at it. The ball was inches from the line and there was no pressure. And he hit past the left post.
Another contender is this from Liverpool’s Ronny Rosenthal. Or this from Kei Kamara.
