Button surges to pole in diplomacy stakes at new-look McLaren

by

4 January 2010

Jenson Button and Lewis Hamilton have been giving their views on the upcoming season at the Vodafone McLaren Mercedes website. Hamilton did much to revive interest in F1 in the UK a couple of years ago, then Button stole the headlines along with the title in 2009, and with Shumacher back for 2010 it could even make a – shock horror – third interesting year on the bounce for the neutral observer.

Another sub-plot will be the Button-Hamilton relationship, and in the article for their team website, it is Button making the most diplomatic noises, including: “Having no testing until the first week of February is something of a mixed blessing – it gives me the time to really get to know the guys at Vodafone McLaren Mercedes, and to properly integrate myself into the team – which I am absolutely committed to doing”.

Hamilton says he has not had much of a chance to speak to Button yet. “Not yet, unfortunately. Our paths haven’t really crossed since he was announced at Vodafone McLaren Mercedes back in November.”
