Hewitt ahead of Australian Open: ‘I still think there are Slams in me’

by

1 January 2010

Lleyton Hewitt gives an interview in the Saturday (2 Jan) edition of the Sydney Morning Herald in which he says: ”I still think there are grand slams still in me.”

The 28-year-old Adelaide baseliner, winner of the US Open in 2001, Wimbledon in 2002 and no Slams since, says he is as fit as he’s been in a long time and is looking forward to his home Slam, which starts in Melbourne on 18 January.

”It has taken the best guys to beat me, basically every time,” he tells the SMH of multiple near misses. ”If you keep putting yourself in that position, time after time laying it on the line, eventually you will get your chance and it is going to open up. There is still unfinished business.”
