Manchester United just need to execute some classic top-of-the-table – win their last two home matches and draw their last two away games – to ensure they’re the champions of England for a 20th time, and 13 times in the Premier League era. Unlucky for everyone else.
In the all-time table in the Premier League’s 20th season, they are already more than 200 points beyond anyone else, and that astounding level of consistency has its bedrock in their Old Trafford form, year after year after year.
United’s complete Premier League home record by opponent is in the table below.
Of the 43 clubs who have already visited Old Trafford in the Prem era, 15 of them have gone away competely pointless. Of the current Premier League clubs, Wigan, Stoke and Wolves all have 100 per cent losing records at United in the Premier League.
Wigan have lost seven times from seven there, as have former Premier League clubs Birmingham and Portsmouth in the Premier League era.
Even when United don’t have perfect records against some opponents, their results tend to be exceptionally good nonetheless, even against other ‘big’ teams who one would typically epxect to be challenging for a top six place. Teams like Everton.
David Moyes’ team, who are Sunday’s visitors to Old Trafford, have just the one victory in 19 Premier League games there and that was 3-0 in the first mid-week fixture of the Premier League era back in August 1992.
